SMS Opt-in Evidence: Continuum

This page documents how Continuum collects consent before sending any text message. Script version 2026-10-01.v1.

Opt-in path 1: call, then press 1

When a call to (240) 590-5978 is not answered, the caller hears, word for word:

"You've reached Continuum. This call is recorded so we can help you faster. If this is a life-safety emergency, hang up and call 911."

Then the system asks, and waits 5 seconds for a keypress:

"To get a text back from Continuum at this number, press 1. You may get a few messages about your inquiry. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Terms at uxcontinuum.com/sms-policy."
  1. Caller presses 1: the keypress is logged (call ID, time, calling number, the exact prompt above), the caller hears "Thanks. Continuum will text you at this number shortly.", and one text is sent to the calling number only.
  2. Caller presses nothing or another key: no consent is recorded and no text is ever sent.
  3. Either way the caller then hears "After the tone, leave your name, what you need, and the address." and may leave a voicemail.

Opt-in path 2: the consumer texts first

Someone who texts (240) 590-5978 first gets replies about that conversation only. The inbound text is logged as the consent record.

There is no other opt-in: no web form, no keyword campaign, no purchased or shared lists.

Consent log

Each consent is stored as one row: method (pressed 1, or texted first), phone number, Twilio call or message ID, script version, the exact prompt spoken, and a UTC timestamp.
